Course: MBA

What is CMAT?

CMAT, or the Common Management Admission Test, is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into MBA and PGDM programmes across AICTE-approved institutions in India. It's one of the more accessible management entrance exams — accepted by over 1,000 B-schools across the country, including well-known names like JBIMS Mumbai and BIMTECH Greater Noida.

CMAT 2027 Notification and Exam Date

As of now (August 2026), NTA has not yet released the official CMAT 2027 notification. Based on how previous cycles have played out, here's what's expected:

  • Notification release: Expected in October–November 2026
  • Exam date: Expected around January 24, 2027 (a Sunday), following the same pattern as CMAT 2026, which was held on January 25, 2026

Do keep in mind these are informed estimates based on past trends, not confirmed dates. The moment NTA puts out the official notification on cmat.nta.nic.in, the exact schedule will be locked in — so it's worth checking that site regularly starting October 2026.

Expected Registration Timeline

Going by last year's pattern, here's the likely registration window for CMAT 2027:

  • Registration opens: Expected second/third week of October 2026
  • Registration closes: Expected late November 2026 (with a possible extension, as happened in the CMAT 2026 cycle)
  • Correction window: Expected shortly after registration closes, for a few days
Expected Application Fee

Based on the CMAT 2026 fee structure, expect something similar for 2027:

  • General category: ₹2,500
  • Female / Reserved category candidates: ₹1,250
Eligibility Criteria
  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university
  • Final-year students can also apply, provided they can furnish proof of graduation before the admission process begins
  • No age limit to appear for CMAT
  • No minimum percentage is mandated by NTA itself, though most participating institutes look for around 50% in graduation (45% for reserved categories)
Exam Pattern

CMAT is a computer-based test conducted in a single shift, covering five sections:

Detail Info
Total Questions 100
Duration 3 hours (180 minutes)
Sections Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Mode Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Sectional Time Limit None — candidates can move between sections freely within the 3-hour window

Since the syllabus overlaps significantly with CAT and XAT (Quant, Verbal, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation), many aspirants prepare for all three simultaneously.

How to Apply (Expected Process)
  1. Visit the official website — cmat.nta.nic.in

NTA typically releases the CMAT admit card 3–4 days before the exam, downloadable from the official website using your application number and date of birth. A city intimation slip is usually issued a few days before that, letting you know your allotted exam city in advance.

Answer Key and Result
  • Provisional answer key: usually released 3–7 days after the exam
  • Objection window: stays open for 2–3 days, with a fee of around ₹200 per question challenged
  • Final answer key and result: typically declared within 2–3 weeks of the exam
