About College/University

Gujarat Vidyapith is one of India's historic higher-education institutions, founded by Mahatma Gandhi on 18 October 1920 during the national education movement. The institution was established around the principles of national education, self-reliance, social service and constructive work. It was recognised as a Deemed-to-be University in 1963 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.

The university continues to emphasise Gandhian philosophy, Nai Talim, community engagement, social responsibility and value-based education. Its academic programmes cover humanities, social sciences, education, physical education, science, computer applications, journalism, management, commerce and research.

Gujarat Vidyapith's main campus is located on Ashram Marg, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad. Its Central Library, established with the university in 1920, has a collection of more than 6 lakh books and other resources

Course Eligibility

UG Courses: Class 12 from a recognised board is required for BA, B.Com, BRS and BPES. B.Sc. eligibility depends on the subject combination; the 2025 guidelines specify Group B for Microbiology and Group A for Mathematics. BCA requires a minimum of 40% in Class 12.

PG Courses: Graduation from a recognised university is required for MA, MSW, M.Lib.I.Sc., MJMC, MSM and M.Com programmes.

M.Sc.: Graduation in an allied/relevant subject is required.

B.Ed./Education: Eligibility is based on the relevant graduation qualification and applicable programme/regulatory requirements.

MBA/MCA: Graduation is required, with programme-specific entrance/admission requirements. Current admission information also provides a dedicated CUET-PG admission route for applicable programmes.
