The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) is a research-oriented autonomous university established in 1998. It was created as a not-for-profit public-private partnership and has developed a distinctive academic model where research, project-based learning and interdisciplinary education are integrated into undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The institute focuses heavily on areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Robotics, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, Electronics and Communication and related areas.

Unlike conventional universities organised primarily around departments, IIIT Hyderabad is strongly structured around research centres and laboratories, allowing students and faculty to work across disciplines.

The institute currently reports a 66-acre campus, 2,605 students, 114 faculty, 29 research centres, 8,200+ alumni and 30 academic programmes. Its Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship has also supported a large startup ecosystem.

B.Tech: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE).

Dual Degree – B.Tech + MS by Research: CSE + MS by Research in Computer Science, ECE + MS by Research in Electronics & Communication Engineering, CSE + MS in Computational Linguistics, CSE + MS in Computational Natural Sciences, CSE + MS in Computing & Human Sciences.

M.Tech: Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science & Information Security, Product Design & Management, Computer-Aided Structural Engineering, VLSI & Semiconductor Technologies.

MS by Research: Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computational Natural Sciences, Bioinformatics, Computational Linguistics, Civil Engineering, IT in Building Science, Spatial Informatics, Cognitive Science, Human Sciences and other research areas.

MSIT: Master of Science in Information Technology with areas such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Blockchain Technologies, Full Stack Web Development, Mobile App Development, Information Security, Software Engineering and DevOps.

eMSIT: Online/flexible Master of Science in Information Technology programmes.

PGSSP: Post Graduate Student Status Programme for selected postgraduate-level coursework.

Ph.D.: Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Computational Natural Sciences, Computational Linguistics, Bioinformatics, AI, Robotics, Computer Vision, NLP, Cybersecurity and various interdisciplinary research areas.

Joint Ph.D.: Collaborative doctoral research programmes with partner institutions.

Executive / Flexible Learning: Industry-oriented programmes and courses in AI, ML, Data Science, Information Technology and related technology areas.

Course Eligibility

B.Tech: 10+2/equivalent with Mathematics and the prescribed subjects. Admission is available through multiple channels including JEE Main, UGEE, SPEC, LEEE and other institute-approved channels depending on the programme. For 2026 JEE admission, IIIT-H has 100 CSE seats and 70 ECE seats under that channel.

Dual Degree: 10+2/equivalent with the required academic subjects and eligibility for the selected admission channel. Board-based admission is also available for specific programmes with high Mathematics/subject scores.

M.Tech: Relevant B.Tech/B.E./equivalent qualification; admission may be through PGEE or programme-specific/direct admission routes.

MS by Research: Relevant bachelor's/master's qualification depending on the research area, followed by the institute's admission process.

MSIT: Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification as prescribed by the programme.

Ph.D.: Relevant postgraduate/four-year bachelor's qualification depending on the research discipline, followed by the applicable entrance/research-selection process.
